30 Years of Unknown Pleasures: Playlist for June 8, 2009

It's been 30 years since this masterwork was released from one of the most influential bands to come out since the origins of punk. To celebrate, I played 5 of the 9 songs from the album and interspersed them throughout the show. A 30th anniversary celebration for Closer will come next year, because both albums are worth dedicating much attention to, and I believe modern music would not sound like what it is today without Joy Division.

Today I also showcased from songs from the 'Best of Revolution Rock compilation' in the on-air studio. Dave from Revolution Rock filled-in for me a couple weeks ago and did an outstanding job. Revolution Rock airs every Tuesday morning from 10:30-12:00 PM below is his blog, check both the blog and the show out, it's worth your while.

never heard Public Image Limited, very interesting as I just borrowed the sex pistols vinyl from Clara today and saw Sid and Nancy not long ago...all part of my losing my virginal punk status - i have been diving into the subgenres of punk courtesy of fellow CJAM volunteer programming. thanks for being a part of my journey kyle lol!
Maybe Smith is pretty good eh? Looking forward to nick cave special next week, listening back now and enjoying alot so keep up the good work!
