It's been 30 years since this masterwork was released from one of the most influential bands to come out since the origins of punk. To celebrate, I played 5 of the 9 songs from the album and interspersed them throughout the show. A 30th anniversary celebration for Closer will come next year, because both albums are worth dedicating much attention to, and I believe modern music would not sound like what it is today without Joy Division.
Today I also showcased from songs from the 'Best of Revolution Rock compilation' in the on-air studio. Dave from Revolution Rock filled-in for me a couple weeks ago and did an outstanding job. Revolution Rock airs every Tuesday morning from 10:30-12:00 PM below is his blog, check both the blog and the show out, it's worth your while.
